José Ángel Navejas weighs in on the “American Dirt” controversy in Chicago Tribune Interview

José Ángel Navejas, PhD Candidate in Hispanic Literary and Cultural Studies, was interviewed by Nina Metz of the Chicago Tribune in connection with Oprah's controversial selection of American Dirt for her Book Club and Oprah's follow-up show to discuss the reaction of many Latino/a writers to the popularity of Cummins' book. José Ángel studies contemporary Latin American immigrant writing in Chicago and is also the author of Illegal: Reflections of an Undocumented Immigrant.
