Chiara Fabbian Featured in Stories atLAS

Could you discuss the role that mentorship plays in your responsibilities as a professor?
My responsibility is dedicated to promoting the study of language as global communicative competence, which means preparing learners to participate successfully in the 21st-century global economy while also enhancing their capacity to understand and consider the thoughts, feelings, and viewpoints of others. This skill is crucial in social, academic, and professional contexts, as it helps individuals navigate relationships, communicate effectively, and solve problems collaboratively. As a teacher, I foster thought-provoking questions and discussions; as a program director, I encourage study abroad opportunities, as well as internships and service learning both locally and internationally; seek external funding and scholarships for students; and promote community engagement through extracurricular activities and the Italian Club. I want my students to succeed and stay engaged.
The School of LCSL is proud to count Professor Fabbian as a member of its leadership and community!
