Call for Papers – 6th Chicago Graduate Conference in Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and Latinx Studies
The graduate students of the UIC Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies are once again collaborating with their colleagues at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University to organize the Chicago Graduate Conference in Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and Latinx Studies. This year's conference, "The Human on the Margins," will take place online April 14-16 and feature keynote speakers Patricia Vieira, Marisol de la Cadena, and Jerónimo Duarte-Riascos.
The conference welcomes papers regarding literature, translation, cinema, theater, cultural studies, art, comics, graphic novels, music, visuality, aurality, performance, critical theory, research on creative writing, etc.
Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes (7-8 double-spaced pages) and can be in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. Proposals of 250 words or less should be sent in a Word document, 12pt Times New Roman font, to gradchicagoconference@gmail.com before 11:59 PM (CST), February 11, 2022.
Proposals should include the title of the presentation, an abstract, the name of the presenter, and their academic affiliation. We are also accepting panel proposals of 3 to 4 speakers, in which case a general description of the panel topic (250 words max) should be included along with the abstracts of each participant’s paper, as well as their names and academic affiliations.
