Carpio Ríos awarded Access to Excellence Fellowship and Graduate Research Award

Meloddye Carpio Ríos, PhD candidate in Hispanic Studies, has been awarded two major awards by the UIC Graduate College.

The Access to Excellence Fellowship offers support to increase the number of students from historically underrepresented groups in graduate education who enter careers as researchers and college faculty. Winners are selected based on academic achievement and promise and are nominated by their departments. This award will provide Meloddye with full financial support for a year while she works on her dissertation.

The Award for Graduate Research is the Graduate College’s longest-running support for research by graduate students and provides financial support to allow students to take advantage of unique opportunities to further their research, and to aid progress toward their degrees. This award is given based on the scholarly merit of the project proposed.

Congratulations Meloddye on this achievement!
