The Bilingualism and Language Contact Lab at UIC focuses on the activation of two languages and cross-linguistic influence among children and adults who live in multilingual contact situations. Of special interest are the effects of contact on the bilingual grammars of heritage speakers of minoritized languages such as Spanish heritage speakers in the US and indigenous peoples in the Americas.
