Russian Ph.D. alumna Yelena Zotova publishes first book
Yelena Zotova, who received her Ph.D. in Russian from the Department of Slavic and Baltic Languages and Literatures (now Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian Studies) and is currently an Associate Teaching Professor of Russian at Penn State University, has just published her first book. Wingless Desire in Modernist Russia: Envy and Authorship in the 1920s "argues that the concept of envy underwent a peculiar transformation in the Russian Modernist prose of the 1920s due to a series of radical shifts in societal values, with each subsequent change thwarting Russia’s volatile axiological hierarchy." The book is now out with Lexington Books.
