About UIC's International Studies Program

UIC’s International Studies minor challenges you to investigate global issues from a variety of perspectives. The minor, designed to complement an undergraduate major field of study, consists of twenty-one semester hours that must be international in overall content. Please note that while courses may fulfill both major and the minor field requirements, credit hours may only be allocated to one or the other.

Many students test their classroom learning by studying abroad. Over the past two years our minors have studied in a variety of countries including South Africa, Brazil, Jordan and Japan, in addition to the European nations. Study abroad experience can then be applied to the International Studies minor.

A student's course of study can be tailored to meet individual career objectives, leading to opportunities in academics, government, law, communications, business, non-governmental organizations, philanthropic organizations, and private voluntary organizations.
