Download iCal FileRocío Silva Santisteban, an important Peruvian activist, poet, and human rights advocate will present "Resistence to Extractivism: The Concept of “Cuerpo-territorio and Healing Circles.”
The talk will take place on Tuesday April 28 at 3:30 in UH 1501.
Rocío Silva-Santisteban served as a Member of Congress of the Republic of Peru representing the left-wing coalition Frente Amplio, and as Executive Director of the National Human Rights Coordinator. She holds a PhD in Literature from Boston University, a diploma in Gender Studies, and degrees in Law and Political Science. She works as a consultant on human rights, gender, and eco-territorial conflicts, and is a university professor. She currently serves as Director of the feminist NGO DEMUS and is a member of the Eco-social Pact of the South.
