We are delighted to announce that the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies will host the Pragda Spanish Film Festival. Programmed in Advance of the Chicago Latino Film Festival we will screen five recent films from Spain and Latin America.
The film festival is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided and admittance is free. All screenings will take place in the Daley Library room 1-470.
Films to be screened:
Lope -- Tuesday, April 2nd at 4:00pm
Amerikanuak -- Wednesday, April 3rd at 4:00pm
También la lluvia/Even the Rain -- Thursday, April 4th at 4:00pm
Post Mortem -- Tuesday April 9th at 3:00pm
La muerte de Pinochet/The Death of Pinochet -- Wednesday April 10th at 4:00pm
Please note that the April 9th screening will be followed by a round-table discussion on the current situation of Spanish language film with Carmelo Esterrich (Columbia College), Salomé Skvirsky (UIC, Latino and Latin American Studies program), and Steven Marsh (UIC, Dept. Hispanic and Italian Studies).
This festival has been made possible thanks to a grant from Pragda and counts on the generous sponsorship of the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics, and the Department of Hispanic & Italian Studies, the Moving Image Arts Minor, the Latino and Latin American Studies Program and the Institute for the Humanities.
