Graduate Student Reading and Writing Groups
The School of LCSL will support graduate students who would like to organize extracurricular reading and writing groups on topics of shared interest. The School will provide meeting space and refreshments (pending budget availability) for such group meetings.

Reading groups are intended to support students in their quest to become engaged intellectuals and active members of the School community. Groups (of two or more individuals) of students from a single department or from departments across the School might focus on a critical theory, the work of a single writer or thinker, a literary or cultural movement, a time period, or a theme.
Examples: Psychoanalysis; Freud; Cervantes; Romanticism; the Interwar Period; Conflict.
Writing groups can offer constructive feedback and moral support to students as they work on their dissertations or on conference papers. Meetings might take the form of either workshops or practice-run presentations.
Eligibility Heading link
Graduate students in MA and PhD programs in the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics may organize reading and writing groups. The groups may include advanced undergraduates and graduate students from departments outside of the School. Graduate students may invite faculty members to join the meetings on a regular basis or for individual meetings. Faculty participation and supervision are not required.
